APRA (Australian Prudential Regulation Authority)

Prudential regulator of banks, insurers and super trustees.

APRA was established in 1998 to supervise the financial soundness of authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs), insurers (general, life, private health), and superannuation trustees. Issues prudential standards (CPS series) and has enforcement powers including additional capital requirements and licence conditions.
